Made by a modeler, for modelers
Daniel Tal, FASLA
Daniel Tal is a landscape architect and a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He has taught SketchUp to designers for many years and is the author of SketchUp for Site Design, Rendering in SketchUp and Drones in Professional Practice, published by Wiley.
He is also the maker of PlaceMaker and UrbanPaint, two SketchUp extensions used for bringing real places and streets into a model.
Charrette comes from the same habit: take the slow, repetitive part of modeling and hand it to a tool, so the designer can spend the time on design. Daniel does not write code. Charrette was built by directing AI in plain language, which is why it works the way a modeler thinks: massing first, components for anything repeated, tags for everything, and nothing loose in the model.
Every model in the gallery was built in SketchUp with Charrette, or with the engine behind it.
